National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
The offices of the Institute of Health Economics will be closed on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day to “honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process”, as outlined in the Calls to Action issued by the National Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
We acknowledge the truth of the intergenerational harm caused by the residential school system, and to mourn for the children who never returned home. Every child matters. We recognize that Indigenous communities still face systemic inequalities today, and that true reconciliation requires action.
We encourage all members of our community to reflect on how we can move toward reconciliation. In this we are guided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action (link). The National Residential School Crisis line is 1-866-925-4419.
