About the Provider Financing Forum

8 – 9 April 2010
Edmonton, Alberta

There is a wealth of theoretical and real-world evidence on the impacts of physician payment system design on physician behavior and health system performance. In order to bring some of that knowledge to Alberta the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) conducted, on behalf of Alberta Health and Wellness, a 1 and ½ day Provider Funding: Performance, Accountability, and Incentives Forum April 8 & 9th. The forum was invitation-only and involved approximately 80 attendees from government, the medical profession, some other provider groups, Alberta Health Services, and selected research organizations studying provider payment systems. The event provided the opportunity for informal policy dialogue around key issues in provider financing.

Note: The IHE also conducted a conference on Funding Models in November 2010
